1. What did you do this past week? This past week I worked on some assignments for my other classes to try to get ahead in my workload. I also spent some time trying to plan my course schedule for next semester as well as trying to figure out my plan for graduation.
2. What’s in your way? Right now nothing is in my way. I have some time on my hands, so I’m going to try to get a head start on what I need to do.
3. What will you do next week? Next week I’m going to work on improving our backend for our project and make some changes to the data on some of our models. Hopefully, I will be able to get the data to a point where it holds more than enough useful attributes so that users can really benefit from visiting and using our website. I’m also going to play around with routing to improve it and fix any bugs that I find. Other than that, I have another assignment due for another class, so I’ll be doing that as well.
4. If you read it, what did you think of Ethical CS? Unfortunately, I didn’t have time to write about my thoughts on it this weekend, so I haven’t read it. I do want to read it later this week though.
5. What was your experience of functions, lambdas, and decorators? (this question will vary, week to week) These were really interesting to me. They made sense to me, and it was cool to learn more about decorators because I have been using them for our project’s backend. Functions have a lot of cool capabilities that allow cool customization, and lambdas make it a lot simpler to do something short and fast.
6. What made you happy this week? Earlier this week I went out and performed my civic duty to vote, so that felt nice and there wasn’t a line at the FAC. It took less than 10 minutes to get my vote counted. This Friday I got to eat at a nice place that had really good food, so that was a nice treat. I also watched Over the Moon on Netflix, and that was really good as well. Overall, I had a really good start to my weekend!
7. What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week? My pick of the week is for editing the peer reviews in LaTeX format. There’s a free online editor called Overleaf that lets you edit these files in your browser. You can constantly compile and recompile changes you make, and it makes the peer review a lot faster to complete. Check it out if you were looking for something that does something like that!
